Saba is very dedicated to advocating for people from underserved communities. She has found an outlet for her concern through various activities on and off campus. On the clinical side, she has worked as a volunteer ESL tutor at a free clinic, and assisted at a mobile eye care facility. The common thread in her public service is Saba’s belief that “meaningful care begins with helping others feel heard, supported and understood.”

On the research side, Saba is a volunteer assistant in anesthesiology, where she focuses on clinical pain research. In that role she authored an abstract for the UCSD Undergraduate Research Conference. She had previously assisted with micro-biome research.

On campus Saba participated in two initiatives as a College Corps Changemaker Fellow. One was the Triton Food Pantry, where she was co-manager supporting food insecurity operations. The other was with a public health program focusing on childhood obesity. She also served as president of Seventh College Resident Council, and plays on an intramural basketball team.

Since middle school she has enjoyed music, basketball and peer tutoring. She believes that the latter has helped her develop “patience, clarity in communication, and a deep appreciation for teaching.”

Saba hopes to earn an MD/MPH. As a future physician she hopes to “advocate for patients, bridge gaps in communication, and create trust in moments of vulnerability.”
