At age sixteen Cam, like many teenagers, was not able to visualize herself where she is now, a top student at a great university hoping to eventually earn a PhD. For three and a half years she worked full time managing a coffee shops, but one particular professor at her community college changed everything for her. It was in a field she had never heard of previously, anthropology, and that teacher instilled in her his passion for the subject.

Now enrolled in John Muir College at UC San Diego, she works at the UC San Diego Geoarchaeology department digitizing records. She is on the board of the newly legitimized Italian Club, assisting with funding, events and graphics/social media. She was awarded a summer internship at Sierra University working with archaeological material from Jordan.

Cam is also passionate about the arts, including singing and theatre. She has engaged with non-profit theatre groups, both as an actor and helping backstage. She is working on a “research driven science fiction novel which dramatizes current proposed climate solutions…”

Cam’s ultimate career goal is to be an anthropology professor, but not only to do research. She wants to be a “passionate professor” who “uplifts, supports, inspires and generates passion for students who do not feel they are capable of higher education, pursuing careers in competitive fields, or pursuing unorthodox goals.”
